Default 8320 restarts itself sometimes. A dozen restarts later its fine til it crashes

The guy i bought it from is like "well..its unlocked ic an try to present a problem to telus down there..but you're gonna have to ship off your phone ..and pay for expenses, it'll be like 2 weeks"

I can't have no phone for 2 weeks and... i don't want to have to pay shipping to TRY to get it to work. BS sigh. This is what happens when Canada doesn't' get nice phones....

For me: IF if my phone I can press my menu button without it freezing: it WILL NOT FREEZE until it legitimately crashes: browser script error...or if i have too many apps and it runs out of memory etc.

When it crashes, I can't use the phone as when i boot up... press the menu button, it'll freeze again! driving me nuts. and this cycle goes on... and on

However, after a fwe dozen restarts, i'll have one bootup where i can press the menu.. it DOESNT freeze..then I can use it for a long time and I don't get any random restarts at all until there is a legitimate crash.

but when taht legitmate crash ahppens..the cycle continues.

i've tried everything: reinstall OS, wipe , wipe completely + re install, clear logs. etc etc. doesn't work

any hidden mojo you crackberry users can provide me with?

Hi and welcome to the Crack.

The first thing to check here is free memory so go to Options, Status and check the File FRee number. Less than 12Mb and you are in trouble.

The first thing to delete for some immediate relief is the Demo Video - it's 2Mb. FInd it and delete it.

Try that and come back here.

The link below is the definitive link for memory optimization.

    I have 18MB free.

I don't install any apps or anything and don't really plan to (until i have a device thats more reliable) Right now, when it works, its 100% reliable, (well as reliable as a bberry can be) if it accidentally crashes thoughd ue to too many rpgorams running/error... then i'm screwed.

I have acutally browsed that thread before through searching but since i wasn't short on any memory I didnt really want to get rid of any themes.. :P

    Thanks for the welcome

    Hi
I'm thinking it's a software problem with relation to signal carrier and battery strength; here's why.
I recently went to the states so I was roaming. The battery was heavily taxed due to constantly searching for a signal. I turned off the receiver and used it like a pda for 4 days. Worked great. No unauthorized restarts. Once back in Canada I turned the gizmo on (data services/phone) and it restarted itself later that day. Recently it has started to restart itself over and over until it "catches." I've followed all the necessary steps to remedy this problem (battery pull, O/S upgrade, downgrade/upgrade, wipe/reinstall, roaming list update (Telus uses Bell carriers in Canada), network carrier (Telus) reboot.....) but still it persists.
I've even contacted my provider, regarding this problem, and it restarted itself. Dropping the call. Luckily they called me back on a land line, assuring me it was a hardware issue and to take it to the shop.
I'm not giving up, but I am running out of options.

You mentioned themes. A badly written theme can cause a lot of problems. The first thing I would do is run the stock theme and see if that fixes the problem.
