I am considering the purchase of a Blackberry Curve with ATT. I have only had experience with basic cell phones and voice only cell plans.
Can anyone tell me what advantages / disadvantages are related to the ATT service with a Curve 8310 vs. the 8320? I am also intersted in knowing what services I have to buy from ATT to make use of various features.
My major concern is to combine my PDA and cell phone. Hopefully I can use the Curve to kept my calendars in synch at home and office like my PDA does at present. EMail access via WIFI is desireable as well.
Thank you for your post - I appreciate the efffort. Unfortunately, that was all information I have already read - and I am still not clear on the practical ramifications. I was hoping people could share what their experience had taught them.
Do people in real world use find GPS or WiFi a better choice?
Can I use the 8320 to access WiFi on my wireless routers at home and work without ATT charging me extra if I just have a voice plan?
I asked about the 8320 at an ATT store and it seemed to me that an obvious benefit of WiFi would be for synching the BB to my computer, but was told it would not do that over WiFi. What will it do?
Really know very little about Blackberries and need to hear from people using them.
I practically live and breathe off of google maps, so the GPS is a must for me. I have unlimited data, so although wi-fi is a lot faster than EDGE, i dont mind not having it.
yes, the 8320 should be able to access wi-fi on wireless routers at home, and i think wi-fi is free with att, not sure...
syncing is done through a cord with desktop manager, so wi-fi is not needed to sync.
Do people in real world use find GPS or WiFi a better choice? That depends what you need. Do you need GPS service from your phone? Are you in an urban area, or have a wireless network at your home and work?
Can I use the 8320 to access WiFi on my wireless routers at home and work without ATT charging me extra if I just have a voice plan? What you are describing is the UMA service from T-mobile. AT&T does not have that service. However, it is true that you can make calls over wireless networks utilizing Wifi - it is just not a free. You will still be docked from your minute allocation.
Thanks for the input. The WiFi synch issue is because I need to synch with two computers and prefer not to carry a cable. The picture is getting fleshed out for me and I appreciate the help.
