Hi, iam using a 8310 i want to wipe it and install new fresh os but iam having problems wiping it!! i have gone thru serveal steps, usb cables and in the end i have given up heres what i got from JL_Cmder if its any help

connecting to device...debug: COM error during Open: (0x80004004)
Error: unable to open port

anyone have any ideas or clues to why this is happening??

Not sure what your wiping issue is. Knowing what PC OS you have JL installed on would help. Does Desktop Manager connect to the phone? More importantly, why are you wiping it? I'd recommend simply doing the OS upgrade, which will always wipe the phone during the process anyway.
