    Another quick question....

I just received my replacement 8310 this evening- immediately upgraded to 4.5. Used Device Switch Wizard to move my data. All 100% successful, no hiccups. Made a call to test. All went fine. I sent a test email from one of my email accounts to another, also to test. IMMEDIATELY got the red X- email didn't send; none of the accounts work. Verified all the email setup info was correct. Reregistered through Host Routing Table. Signal ok. What's causing this? Seems simple, I just can't figure out what it is.......

Oh, the new phone came with a new SIM. I first tried it, and it wasn't recognized (forget the message now- can reinstall it and capture the message if it will prove relevant), so I put my old SIM in, and all worked fine except my emails. SMS/MMS work fine also.

    Please help- thanks.

Ok, so in looking through the phone, I see my PIN is different now. Is there a way to 'match' the new PIN to the phone, or something like that? Or am I dreaming stuff up? Is that even relevant to the problem?

Go back to the AT&T BIS site and change your device information
and then resend your service books.

I dug after my last post and found exactly that- worked perfectly. Thanks!

Everything BB is SO different from everything on that Windows crap from my old phones. Takes a little getting used to, but I wouldn't go back!

Trust me on this, spend a little time here and you will be up to
    speed in a hurry.

I went from WinMo to Symbian and accidentally became a BB user.
This site is responsible for more than 90% of what I have learned.

Give it a fair chance and you will appreciate the device and the
    platform more. Welcome aboard

Thanks. I actually had my 8300 for a year or so. Been hooked, just never really dug into it. I did all kinds of craziness to my Treo's and HTC's in my previous wireless life. But those things were so cumbersome. Already love the BB device and platform more.

    I'z hooked.

Ok, so I've done the above, and all works well, except one account. I've deleted and re-added all my email accts directly from my device as well, resent svc books over and over, and for some reason I can't receive emails on this one account. It sends, but doesn't receive. Emails are populating in my inbox, just not on my BB for this one account. Any idea why this would be the case?

It's been hours, so they should be coming through. I use 4 email addresses on my BB, and they are all Yahoo emails, if that helps. All was fine prior to changing from 8300-8310.

Ok, I've now taken the battery off, and reset the device- AGAIN. Logged in to BIS and re-sent Service Books for the 6th time in the last 24 hours. Receipt of emails on all accounts has been sporadic, and for the one account, nonexistent.

    Ideas?

    Is this thing on?

So last night at like 3am I stayed on the phone with ATT for over an hour and a half- I called their afterhours support and spoke to the BB 'specialist' on duty. He couldn't give me anything new to try, and said that all my permissions and settings were right. He sent me a test email, and told me to re-send my service books. Whoopdee-doo. The test email didn't go through to my BB. Thanks, guy.

My next thing I'm thinking is to back it up, wipe it and start all over again. But I get the feeling that if that's the problem, I'll end up reinstalling the problem if I do that.

Again, does anyone have any other ideas?

What kind of account is it? Gmail, yahoo, pop, imap? I noticed when I installed my gmail imap that the account said it was set, but I had forgotten to enable imap, so I could send but not receive.

    Thanks for the reply-

It is Yahoo. It is not a premium account. I have 3 other Yahoo accounts, one premium, the other two NOT premium accounts. All others now are working fine. Done all kinds of tests on them. But I can't receive on the one account.

So I don't think it's an OS issue, because its just the one account. The account worked fine on the last BB though. As soon as I changed to this one/installed 4.5 (which was also on the last BB) it stopped working.

Done that no less than 10 times. Removed from BIS, recreated, re-sent svc books. Also did that from the device directly.

Ok, 48 hours after this problem started, now it works. I did nothing different. Apparently 17 is the magic number. Next time I have a problem, I'll just repeat the troubleshooting 17 times, and it will work flawlessly!

Ha, yeah that's weird. Thankfully I am all (re)set up now.

    Thanks to all for input.
