Mine went from 1XEV to 1X to 1x to 1xev and finally back to 1XEV where it has remained since. All of the changes occurred over a two day period.

I'm guessing that the change is probably due to the alltel/vzw merger and not the os upgrade. I'm running .160 and am with alltel and I have 1XEV, however there was a period when they were messing with the towers here that I had 1x or 1xev for intermittant periods.

According to one CS rep I talked to with VZW, you can get data at 1X, the ev and EV is enhanced service. If you're only seeing 1x, (lowercase) you're not getting data. I was a little skeptical, since I would only get data on ATT when I had EDGE signal, not edge, but it does seem correct from my experiences.

Lower case means you are on carrier data not RIM BIS data. For some reason you are not connecting to the BIS servers. Sounds like a battery pull and/or resending service books is in order. After an OS upgrade a battery pull is always recommended.

I always push my Service Books after an OS upgrade to be safe (menu - options - advanced - host routing table - hit the BB key - Register Now)

The other day Alltel had a network wide Data outage which probably put you in/out of 1x/1xev but that was resolved mid-afternoon so you should be on 1XEV now (I am).

And if you're on Verizon and see that RF cycling...that must mean you have 4.5.0.160!!!!
Which is why many of us from Verizon installed the hybrid OS instead...all the features of 160 with none of the hassle!
131 radio files and bye bye RF cycling!
