    Question 0000000000?? What the....

I keep getting calls from 0000000000, I finally answered today (probably a bad idea) and it was silence, and then the call ended... Does anyone know why I am getting calls from 0000000000? Is it some form of a blocked number? I also got one from 999999999 a day or two ago as well... I'm lost... Any ideas?

It's most likely just some stupid telemarketer.

    Please see this link:

    I also just read this:

If you receive a call from 1-000-000-0000, realize this: it is a FAKED OUT telephone number (using a technique called SPOOFING).

Anyway, it's not just ONE person/organization calling. It could be anybody. Consequently, there's probably not much point in contributing further to the notes for this # in a vain attempt to figure out who it is.

Have the good sense to just NOT answer it and be done with things. Many people have phone service that allows you to block specific numbers; this would be a good one to add to that list.

Any time you receive a call from a number you don't know, IE from telemarketers or whatever, try doing a google search for the number. 9 times out of 10, it will yield useful search results.

I actually received a call last week from 999-911-9999.

Didn't answer it and it went to voice mail.

Turned out to be a new emergency service system that is going to be used by municipalities to notify residence of important information.

But I tend not to answer calls unless a name shows up, which means they are already in my phone book.

This is when a program called "black & white list" or "iCallManager Lite" come in handy.

The only time I got a call from a 000-000-0000, was when it was blockbuster calling saying I had an overdue movie I rented.

Its not just blockbuster and its not just a survey. Its just a spoofed number a lot of companies use to block the actual number they're calling from.

I did a Google for 000-000-0000 and it looks like it is just another way to identify an anonymous caller/blocked call. There are several listings of different companies coming through that way. Some are listed here and Google even showed one from Lowes/GE credit.
