Last I was in a Sprint store, about 3 weeks ago, the tech guy there didn't have much to say except to look to the Motorola if we needed a change. He did agree with me that the 8350i is far from perfect and that the merger has more hindered than helped.

Only rumors about Sprint getting a phone like the Torch, not that exact model, sometime in the last quarter, but it would only be on Sprint, not IDEN.

Let's put it this way, rumors are rumors. I had a quote un-quote Sprint Forum Admin tell me 5.0 in end of Q1 for the 8350i, the last I checked Q1 isn't August.

Moto i1 looks sweet, his huge screen is beautiful. Overall looks like a great phoine. In the end I'll probably end up switching to it if I don't see anything coming from Blackberry

I highly doubt RIM will venture into the IDEN realm again after the black eye this POS gave it's reputation. I spoke with a Sprint rep who I trust that said the i1 is no better other than being android than this POS since it's still on IDEN. Makes sense. Also said the i1 battery a lot worse than BB which is a common complaint with android phones as I understand it.

I am trying to look for a thread on another forum that I was following a while ago that was about 2 new blackberry models for nextel. One was an updated version of the curve and the other supposedly a hybrid type using 3g from sprint.

Now this was before the rumors of the i1 started. Once that guy found an i1 prototype and started posting videos of it, that blackberry thread died out.

I'll look for it and post it as soon as I find it...

Well thanks for sharing that info.

I really hope Sprint will do something to improve data speeds with a hybrid solution. And that we start getting more love. I feel that we are getting left behind with all that new phones popping out.

    I want a better phone/data speed for my 69.99 + taxes I'm paying now!

    ...that felt good.

Haha, no. The *30 extension is for CDMA phones. It would be 8550i. But the 8500 platform was replaced by the newer 9300 series. So I would rather hope for a 9350i.

    Or a more powerful Bold, a 9750i :P
