Default So I updated to the latest OS and now I can't dial or search for Contacts??

I'm actually having 3 strange problems.

#1 my contacts list is way out of order. For example "Dan" is coming after "Zak" It's set up to sort by first name and i have tried to reset the phone and so on.

#2 I used to be able to dial from the main screen my simply typing the persons name. For example if I wanted to call DAN i would type D-A and his name would come up. Now it just says 5-*

#3 last issue is when im in my phonebook\contact list and im searching for someone. I used to just start typing the first letter of their name and it would scroll to that letter. Now it just says NO CONTACT. I can not search at all for contacts?

Am I missing something here? This is terrible. Id rather have echo phone than this garbage..

I just checked my phone and all is fine.. Sounds like you have something else going wrong there.. Try doing a battery pull and see if it continues..

Did the battery pull, tried everything.. Grrrr....

It destroyed all my bb contacts too and the restore from email is obviously not working..

Im reinstalling the old OS version and then calling Verizon. I have 42 phones on our nextel account and I am switching them all this month to Verizon or T-Mobile. I don't know why i bothered upgrading the damn phone anyway, its not like its gonna make the network any better..

Just installed older version and everything is fixed. Trying to decide if I should just leave it now or try one more time.. Seems pretty pointless.

I have the same problem as described on my 8350i. All contacts are there but for instance if I hit the letter m none of the coantacts I have with M come up. even if I hit mur say for murphy. However the same thing does not happen with items starting with the letter r if I dia r all r's come up. If I dial roc it goes to an entry the starts with roc. Ive reloaded the contacts from a back up and it still happens. battery pull too no change. It is annoying but the phone is improved in voice quality outgoing and incoming and does work smother when pages load on and of wifi.

Ok so it seems that if I restore my contacts all works perfect. then after I reboot I have the same problem I described above. Anyone else try rebooting after download of .313 was complete. If not try it and then try searching your contacts. Mine seems to only effect the contacts that start with"s" or "m" the contacts are there but if I type s instead of a list appearing I get no contacts. Then if I hit say r and scroll I get to the s contacts. Then if Restore contacts all is fine. I re-boot again repeat problem. Its so subtle a lot of people likely haven't noticed it yet.

    Unhappy Same issues

I am having the same issues.

    1) contact list works right after a reboot, then begins not to show names when I search.

    2) phone goes into speaker mode for no apparent reason.

    3) When I press and hold DC button, no one shows up in the list.

All these issues resolve when I do a battery pull, but they all come back within 1/2 hour.

I am having the same issues as tmsnake1. I have traced it to Blackberry Messenger. I noticed that all of the contacts that are out of order are at the top of my contact list and are BBM contacts also. After rebooting the phone, I noticed that all the contacts are in order. But if I open Messenger, I see that all of my contacts don't have their associated picture next to the contacts. Then all of the pictures start to populate, then I switch back to my contact list, and those contacts are back out of order, and the search function is not working. I tried unistalling Messenger, and everything was fine. Reinstalled. Same problem.

    Anybody figure this out yet??

I'm having the same problems. Also, I noticed my contacts pictures for y messenger and bb messenger disappear every time I reboot. I hope someone figures this out because its getting ridiculous!! None of the new features seem to work, ptt button just says no contacts. The sms does work sending sms to Verizon customers but will only receive them as mms. Under service center in sms text put in 15148210053, it works, I've tested it with my wifes bb curve on verizon several times. As I said it will send but not receive sms. Please contact if anyone figures out the other issues.

Like I said earlier if I restore my contacts from the Desk top manager everything is fine. After I reboot I have the contact search issue and only with certain letters. I hope RIM is working on this. Its getting rather annoying.

I'm in the same boat, only certain letters are searchable in contacts lists
also only certain letters in DC button search.
I have sync'ed and done a battery pull no change.
I wonder if it is a 3rd party app causing this issue. Anyone having this issue without any 3rd party apps installed?

Yes restore contacts from DM and don't reboot. I spoke to Someone from Sprint's executive office they are going to be contacting RIM to see if it can be repaired quickly or will have to wait for next upgrade. I have to say other than that my phone does seem to have a better signal and better outgoing voice quality. Might just be wishfull thinking. You know like when you get an oil change and think the car runs better.
