Default Shortcuts for MMS (sms)?

Greetings! First post! I got my BB about 2 weeks ago and have been pouring over the internet and forums trying to learn all the great things this thing can do. I'm overwhelmed - to say the least. I have downloaded a lot of apps, though I have yet to set them all up and take advantage of them. One of the things that I am trying to do is set up shortcuts for my contacts for texting. It's kind of a hassle to go to the contact list, pick one out, select mms, etc. I have QuickLaunch installed - but according to the developer - it will not work because the 8350i does not have true sms. So then I downloaded shortcutme, but havent had the time to really work at it. I'm not sure it this will do what I am after, either. In short, I want to hit a button - 2 at the most - and be able to start texting to one of my contacts. I would like a shortcut button for each of about 10 people that I text regularly. Is this even possible with this phone?
Thanks, and glad to be a part of Crackberry!

Yeah - that's the way I'm doing it now. Just thought there had to be a better way. Sort of like a "speed dial", but for texting. I'm still searching.

That's how I do mine too, get used to it after a while its like second nature now I can almost do it without looking at it lol. Another thing I've found to save a little time is I go to mms and scroll down a couple till I see a text the person sent me and hit R without opening the message, that'll do reply, but that's only handy if you received a text from them recently. Welcome to crackberry!

Yup you can do it when you have the message open too. Works for emails to. There's actually a lot of shortcuts like that. My dc id - with no spaces pops up your direct connect number (if you have auto text on) my pin - no space gives you pin number. Go through the auto text list (could be called smart text too don't remember) it'll show you a few more, and the blackberry 101 sticky at top of forum has a chart I believe of other shortcut keys.
