I don't see how me being on tmobile makes a difference? I'm using it because I have no blackberry internet plan. Same reason anyone uses shangmail. I use grandfathered t-zones. And have no push email with this plan.

My settings aren't really special. For data plan I have other selected. I used a made up phone number for my account and change it every month so I can keep using my custom domain email address. Not sure what else is relevant, everything is basically set same as default. The english version stopped working for me so have been using the new version since 4.9 and now 4.9.2. Email pushes through faster then my outlook express.

I can register and bind just fine, the issue is that it will quit pushing after sometime

I've 'upgraded' to 4.9.2 a while ago, and my copy goes 'offline' from Shangmail's servers after about an hour. After much back-and-forth with Shangmail's Customer Support, they sent me 4.9.0 version and asked me to re-install that instead.

The 4.9.0 won't let me log on at all. I emailed them this problem, and they sent me a note a day later saying the problem is fixed. I don't know what they fixed, because the 4.9 still does not work. I re-installed the 4.9.2 again, and it has the same problem.

I'm running BB OS5 now too, but this problem was present with OS 4.6 too. Oh yeah, I'm using the PAID FOR version of Shangmail....

It used to work like a charm, but around June/July... all these problems started!

Hi, I have installed Shangmail 4.9.2 and successfully binded my gmail to it. Yet, I can't understand how I can send emails through my phone? I have a 8900 os5, no data plan. Do you know the solution?
Thanks!

Default Shangmail works really nice, but...

Hi. I am using Shangmail on a Pearl 9100. I don't have BIS/BES. I have a data plan that works that costs me like 7 USD (I am in Costa Rica). I installed the Browser and the Email service books from Anworm. I use the "chinese" version (4.9.2) with a custom address. It has not expired yet. I have had no problems with connection nor registration because I choosed Other in Setting > Setting > Network.

What I don't like is the handling of attachments. In Setting > Configuration > Max Length(KB) I had to put 99. If an attachment is bigger than that emailing won't work. It is not possible to put a number bigger than 99 because field is two digits. Plus the attachments must be added trough the functionality of Shangmail, not through the native functionality (I guess because BIS handles attachments).

I also don't like that all my email is in the same place. I don't have folders like Inbox, Sent mail, etc. I think maybe it's a matter of service books. I see people on BIS/BES have more email options and settings. Someone has a solution for that?

I am using IMAP because POP3 erased email from my mail account. There is no option to choose whether to keep or erase email like in all email clients.

It is marking all my email as read. Even if I had not read it yet... (this makes IMAP sort of useless).

I tried to replace the native browser with Bolt, because supposedly it can replace the default browser and display of emails, but it did not work.

Anyway, from what I tried it is the most integrated application with Blackberry. I have even configured my phone to make a sound when I have email. :-)

I have also installed an application called LogicMail. It is a really nice application. However it is poorly integrated with the Blackberry because a lot of the Blackberry Java API needs applications to be signed (and the developer does not want to go that way). Maybe that will change in the future. I have realized that in order to have email in a Blackberry it is absolutely not necessary to have an intermediary server. One could do pushing when sending and polling (at an interval) to receive email (like all email clients). It could be done using the source code of LogicMail (since it is a BSD licensed application). Maybe I'll do it on the future since I know how to program in Java.

Well, I have somehow email. Now for the chatting part I would like to have Skype... but I guess I am dreaming.

Bests.

The latest development builds of LogicMail (1.9.1.x, soon to be 2.0) do use plenty of those signed APIs. Its also massively improved from what you've seen in v1.1. It still doesn't do background polling yet, but almost everything else has been implemented and its quite usable.
