Unhappy saying goodbye to NEXTEL

i really wanted to hold out until the very end and was going to wait until the next round of blackberries came out for SPRINT/NEXTEL(if any for nextel) to decide what route i was going to go, most likely sprint bb but possibly android if the new bb's werent up to par.

seeing the 2 major changes comming down the pipeline ($10 additional data charge on all smartphone upgrades/new activations/ect after jan 30th and the premier customer upgrade changing from $69+ plans to $79+ plans/10yrs - dont know if im at 10 yet know im between 8-10) i figured now is the time to grab a sprint bb off contract (from ebay/friend) to hold me over untill the new bb's drop.

so ive purchased a sprint bb 8530 (really wanted a 9650 but didnt want to spend around $200 on a used phone when i could just switch to a new android for that price to hold me over). waiting and hoping it gets here by the 28th and activation goes smooth. wish me luck. anyone else doing the same or trying to from the nextel side of things?

smh @ all these years loyal to nextel and being pushed to jump ship...its a sad day for me.

I'm right behind you. I'll be getting the new Evo Shift 4g in the next couple of weeks. I'm sure that I'll miss BlackBerry but I definitely won't lose any sleep from leaving Nextel.

Ready to make the change!

Well, Sprint is shutting the Nextel network down, so I doubt that you will see a new Nextel BlackBerry device.

i know nextel is shutting down eventually and most likely nothing new on the smartphone route is coming but they did extend deals with motorola until 2013 and new handsets still supposedly coming later this year (tho who knows if any will be smartphone related and what)
Sprint extends deal with Motorola to support Nextel network as it nears shutdown | Kansas City Business Journal

im just tired of the data speeds, but still wanted to hold out to see if sprint would offer me some kind of holy grail of a deal to switch over @ the end of it all.

and stupid me i bought the wrong curve...i wanted to 9330 due to ram + os 6 but got the 8530 in my rush to get something

8530 still works but for $15 more i could have gotten the 9330...i may try to cancel the order before they ship in the am and rush ship a 9330 from another vendor

Honestly, I would gladly pay $10 extra to use 3G for my nextel bb.
...
..
.
I know it's impossible, so that's why I'm saying.
I have to stuck with nextel for another year, and hope my 8350i doesn't die on me.

you and me both

granted we shouldnt even have to do that in the first place...but its at the point where i wouldnt mind paying a little extra for a 3g/iden blackberry or android device

in all reality it should be a 4g/3g/iden blackberry or android device by now but id be happy as a pig in sh!t with even a 3g/iden smartphone

update: $85 8530 order cancelled/ $101 9330 ordered and rushed (plus extra $20 bucks for rush delivery smfh) its marked as shipped but info hasnt been updated by fedex...lets hope i get this thing in time + everything goes right

I got the 9650, I miss my little 8350i, but I wanted to avoid the $10 fee. The 9650 is a huge upgrade & very fast. I was with nextel for 7 years & was as loyal as long as I possibly could.
