Default OS upgrade, new Desktop icon

I upgraded my and my wife's 8350i Boostberry's to the new OS (version 5.0.0.1051) a couple days ago. I lost data service at first, but once I got the Service Books reinstalled everything is working again. Both phones have a new "Desktop" icon, looks like an envelope with a little globe at the bottom. Very similar to the "Messages" icon I've always had that shows system/call alerts. Anyone know what "Desktop" is for? A tap of the BB key shows I can compose messages from there, but I can do that from the MMS/SMS icon also. Just wondering what the new feature really does.

I would also like to figure out how to lock the keypad, as the "Padlock" icon has disappeared with this upgrade also... that's a feature I used quite often before.

Your only option is put in standby or set a password lock. Also there is a version of berryslider that works on the 8350i but it's pretty buggy.

Yep, just figured out the Standby option from another thread... that'll work!

Anyone have any experience with that "Desktop" icon?
