Your going to be VERY limited on what you can do without a trackball. There a couple short cut keys but they won't do you a whole lot of good without being able to scroll. About the only thing you can do is make phone calls. Press c from your home screen to bring up your contacts, then type the name of the person you would like to call. You may be able to send a text message by going to contacts then bb key, I think the first option is MMS. Good luck

That's a tough one if you go to a Verizon store they'll replace it free. -I had that done many times with my BB 8330.

Did you try to clean it. If you use a qtip and rubbing alcohol you can clean the ball. Or use a can of keyboard cleaner and blow it out

Just a little suggestion. I went through this while travelling through LA. if you hit the menu button then the first letter for whatever action you want to take you can do quite a bit. For instance to mms someone > alt+cc, type in the name of the contact. When their highlighted, hit menu+m - press enter to get off of the subject field, type, menu+send. Usually you can still use the trackball to select. They just don't like to roll after some time.
But there's a very annoying but usefull workaround for that too. my trackball was completely locked up. So i took the ring off and used a metal needle to "tap" on the magnetic roller to "simulate" rolling motion and voila. think of it clockwise. Bottom right roller = down, top left = up, top right = right, bottom left = left. Hope this helps.
