Nextel 8350i release !!!!
I have been giving 4 dates for release of the new Sprint/ Nextel 8350i Blackberry. Does anyone have the inside scoop on when the real date is?
The most recent I was told was Monday, November 3rd online only. - 11-01-2008, 07:17 PM #2
8350i pricing
A member of the BlackBerry Nation close to Sprint has sent us the pricing for the nascent BlackBerry Curve 8350i. The BlackBerry Curve 8350i is RIM’s first iDEN BlackBerry in recent memory, and comes with Wi-Fi and push-to-talk capability. Our friend tells us that the soon to be released BlackBerry will be priced at $479.99 straight up and $249.99 with a 2 year contract BEFORE a $100 mail-in rebate, leaving you with a dirt-cheap $150 iDEN BlackBerry when all is said and done

Can you send and receive text messages while talking on the phone ?
- 12-14-2008, 01:13 PM #8
Also, does it still use the same sim card ? So I can swap sims with other phones?

I have not tried to text and talk... I will let you know in a lil bit..
As far as the sim card I don’t know... when I got it I put my old sim in it... now keep in mind that my sim is from my i90c I got way back, so the phone did notice some of my settings it knew how many voice mails I had and what my phone number was.. But every time I tried to make a call it said 911 calls only and I could not use my PTT but the data worked. So I told the CSR what was going on and she asked if I had a new sim... we swapped it and everything went to working... I asked her about the phone being backwards compatible she said for the most part they are but since my sim was so old... It could have been the problem - 12-14-2008, 02:44 PM #10
You can use the same sim as the 7100i, but you need to go to the new card for group connect and some other features. Also, as long as you in a wifi zone you can talk and text simultaneously, but if you are not, it will function just like the other devices have.

Does it have the MMS feature? If so this will be different from the 8330 Curve.

Looks nice. Let us know how you like it.

Yeah that's a big feature. If you can send MMS. Cause I know that ALLTel could not.

Congratz on the Curve. I pondered whether to order one off ebay. The two I saw were evaluation versions though.

I'm wondering about MMS as well since it's running OS 4.6.1.53?

From sprint feature list on the phone:
Full Messaging Capabilites:
Instant Messaging and SMS Text Messaging.
However, viewing the user guide on the FCC website states (http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/fo...ive_or_pdf=pdf):
It states all kinds of info on what can be attached at what not. Pages 50-55ish.
Just a typed out snippet, it won't let me copy and paste from the pdf:
"Attach a media file to an MMS Message:"
1.When composing an MMS message press the Menu key
2.Click one of the following menu items: Attach picture, audio, video, or voice note
3.Click a media file.
It appears we have full MMS capabilities.
