What does the Media Card Support option actually do for the device??

Where do you see that option listed?

It may be the ability to put the device into "Storage Mode" (I think that's what it's called) when you connect to a PC and have a media card in your BB. That allows you to load and dump files from the media card directly, just like a flash drive... no need to go through BB Desktop software in that case.
