Default I think the iden network got an upgrade ?

I notice the net runs alot quicker perhaps the iden network was updated to 3g or they are using sprint now. I was in the sprint store playing with the 8350i and it seemed much faster on the web now and it wasn't connected to the wifi. Just to confirm I picked up the stature next to it and it also surfed the web pretty quick now.

3g is not a speed rating. It stands for 3rd generation. When the phone companies switched out of the 800/900 mhz range, they immediately saw an increase in data speeds due to the higher frequency's ability to handle data better. This was 2G. Then they built a network designed to optimize this ability, hence 3G.

Nextel is in the 800mhz range. It will never have high speed like the 1.9ghz phones. And I don't see them wasting the money on it. Nextel's only market holding tool now is direct connect. Anyone who insists on fast data goes elsewhere.

I agree... It would be nice if the network was upgraded. But we know that is not the case. I have been with Nextel for some time and don't plan on changing any time soon. Other than the usual network "flux" of not getting texts and e-mails. It would be nice if the issues of not getting texts and e-mails only happens once in a blue. But I still have faith that maybe something will be done with the network.

I think the speed increase you're seeing is the better handling of the data by the device itself. I know what I experience on the 8350i is much much better than the 7100.

You nkow Lulu you should take your bb and exchange it because since i replaced mine and all the updates i havent had any text or email issues since. before i was in the same boat as you. to me the only gripe i have right now are the plans and charges but to me i dont see myself leaving sprint or uh Nextel anytime soon i think it would be better for nextel to be on their own.

The delayed texts are still there even after the upgrades. It seems pretty sporatic though, some report no issues and few others, including myself have had 6+hour delays. Not sure if its a locationissue or what. Yesterday I was getting texts within seconds and now they are 20 minute delays. But at least the 12+ hours delays seem to be over....I hope.

HA... the very idea of a 3g iden network is hilarious! This network is lucky for a 2g. lol

2g would cost money. i don't think sprint wants to spend any money on the iden network. if they did, our texting would work properly.

I found the same thing, just much better data handling between the 7100 and the 8350i

I just got a 8350i for work and honestly the web works pretty damn quick for me with no problems. Im currently using my 8330 for my personal device and comparing the two, the 8350i is just the slightest bit slower in loading pages. Everyone loves to hate on Nextel but so far i am absolutely loving my newest addition to my berrys.
