Depends on what news you're referring to... the current Nextel IDEN network will be phased out from now until 2013, but so far it appears Sprint will be keeping Boost alive on the CDMA network. But our Nextel Blackberry's will be useless on the new network, so it is true that these phones will only be functional for another 1-2 years.

Hey all... I see we are all facing similar issues. I placed my Boost SIM card in my Nextel 8330i and "BAM" it worked. Phone works great, walki talkie works great but now I can't send or receive any sort of text or MMS messages. I get the message " No MMS service record, message cannot be sent. You will only be able to save draft ".
Any suggestions?

You have to install the Boost Mobile "service books" files to enable MMS functioning. Just swapping in the SIM will only allow basic phone calls, but nothing data-related.

Follow the instructions at the beginning of this thread.

Hi. I notice the activity here has really slowed down. Is it because everyone went to other carriers or is everyone's 8350i's working like a champ and there are no complaints? I am planning on trying this in a week when i get my 8350i. Thanks

I think many folks have moved on to "smarter" phones and 3G/4G networks. There are still many of us (like myself) with the 8350i Boostberry and I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. The $50->$35 Unlimited Boost plan is too good to get rid of. If I want high speed internet, I go to a computer. I still can't understand how the cell phone industry has convinced people to routinely pay $300 for new phones and over $100/month for cell phone service these days. Good advertising I guess.

HI. i have my boost 8350i and boost combo going. Only thing i dont have working is text messaging. If i understand some of the earlier posts, i think it may have to do with the imei number. I was using an i530 and i understand that the imei number from that wont work. ive also tried an imei number i have from a cdma 8330 boost phone. boost wouldnt like to allow me to use that number. can anyone give me guidance on this please?

I recommend you post this in a NEW THREAD in this same section (but not this thread), devoted to the 8350i. It sounds like your antenna is internally disconnect and will need to be disassembled and repaired.

You are right!!! iDen will be phased out, but I do not think all those nextel subscribers will be left out. The new EVDO Rev A is out and will take over the nextel subscribers. I see Boost mobile offering Sprint direct connect in near future.

Here come the Admiral!!
