it seems you have sprint/nextel as your provider, that is what i am seeing on your profile or do you have boost because, this is to help people running the 8350i with boost, if i had sprint/nextel i would be glad to help you but since i dont all i can suggest is you post a thread specifying your problem on the main page or ask "casper" he is a great when it comes to these things hope this helps

Default Newbie Help

3 questions need answered please.

1st, I want to purchase a 8350I off eBay, what questions do I need to ask the seller about the 8350I or is are 8350I's all the same?

2nd, Is there anything I need to say or not say to the Boost rep to get the 8350I up and running?

3rd, Is there anything I need to purchase to make the 8350I run on the Boost network?

Thank you in advance for your help!

1.) Ask them if the IMEI is clear. You don't want that's been blacklisted as lost/stolen. That's all I can think of. If they give you the IMEI you should be able to call Nextel and ask them if the IMEI is clean.
2.) You shouldn't really have to talk to a Boost Rep, if you already have Boost you can put your SIM in the phone and you can update your IMEI on Boost's site. If you're new, you should be able to activate online or over the automated system by phone (they were offering a $5 credit to your account if you did it with the automated phone system, but that promotion might have passed).
3.) You will have instant voice/DC. For all other features, check the stickies or check the links in my signature.

Great! Thanks for that information. Just to be clear, I am with Verizon now and plan to change to Boost as soon as I get a BB, so I do not currently have a Boost phone or SIM card. If I purchase a new/used 8350I, will it have a SIM card in it? Can the SIM card be bad? Are SIM cards interchangeable with any iDEN phone? Or could/should I purchase a new cheap Boost phone and take the SIM out of it and put it in the 8350I?
Again, thanks in advance for all your help.

You will have to buy the boostmobile sim card, it cost about $75 with one month included.

Is a Blackberry Curve 8350i a Sprint or a Nextel or are they all the same? Also, on eBay, there are 32k and 64k SIM cards out there, used and new, SIM card starter kits, pay as you go SIMs, PrePaid SIMs, which is best for the 8350i or are they all the same?

Also, does it make a difference that I want to port a land line to the 8350i?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I bought mine on ebay (there are lots of them out there, make sure you buy a new one) and it was like $7.50 shipped and they come with a $10 Boost credit so technically it cost me -$2.50.

Nextel Boost Mobile 64K Sim Card Starter Kit w/ $10 - eBay (item 330334553885 end time Jun-10-09 08:28:45 PDT)

this one should be good.

I think any Boost Card is the same though.

I have NO idea if you can port your land line or not. Would be cool if you can though!

Dang, that totally sucks!

Also, when I signed up, I heard that you would get a $5 credit for using the automated phone system to activate and I got that. I have no idea if that promo is still running, but if you're a new user you should check it out.

(I think I might have posted that information somewhere yesterday. Sorry if I'm re-posting, but I can't remember which website/forum/thread. I spend too much time on here).
