Default Help switching SIM card to 8350i

Hey guys, I recently purchased a blackberry 8350i from ebay and im trying to switch the SIM card from my old i465 and for some reason its not reading it.

Funny thing is, my mom did the exact same thing going from the i465 to the 8350i with NO problems by only switching out the SIM cards.

Now, I've tried the master reset and the wipe and it still doesn't work. when i go to to contacts on the 8350i, press the blackberry button and then SIM phone book, it tells me "Error Accessing SIM"

It's currently running software version 4.6.1.204

Also, I'm on Sprint.

edit: one more thing, when i switch the SIM card back to my i465 it works perfectly.

Help?

Your 8350i does not have to be unlocked, you will be using it on Sprint/Nextel, the provider for which it was designed. Check to see if you are inserting the SIM on the right side. If it is inserted properly, you may have a hardware problem.

Did you try the SIM from your mother's phone in your phone to see if it works?

Is going to Sprint and activating it there a good option? I much rather fix it myself, but if i have to go to Sprint, its alright.

Make sure the gold contacts are face down in the SIM holder, on a lot of phones the contacts are face up. Also, try another SIM in the phone to make sure it is not a SIM problem. Sure, if you are already on Sprint/Nextel, they can activate the phone for you. It may mean changing your plan.

I really doubt its the SIM card holder, but i'll give a try later tonight when i get home. Also, would it help if i rub alcohol with a q-tip to try and clean it? Any other suggestions that might help?

Nextel has different sim cards, you may not have the right one. I ran into this on my 8350I when i upgraded like 3 years ago. sprint just gave me a new sim.

I'll try cleaning the holder and the SIM as a last resort, if that doesn't work i'll just go to sprint and hope they keep my old plan while activating the 8350i.
