I'm a big fan of the update. Your right, It does seems to be a lot more user friendly than the previous versions. The only problem I have had is it takes a lot longer to get the program up and running. That could just my pc though. Regardless, like the update!
Nice thread...I too would like to hear some input.

8350i OS: 5.0.0.807(1402/3.2.0.31) - 08-16-2010, 09:28 AM #4
I like the upgrade. It also was able to find the southernlink device 5.0 os easier too without having to go through the whole process like other post on the 8350i. I tried the 5.0 previously and couldnt do it. Once I upgraded to desktop 6 It found the file and suggested and upgrade to device 5.0. I like it very much if anyone knows of other tips or ticks let me know.

Yes Crump84, I agree it takes a lot longer to load the program, I don't think it has to do with the computer.
Also, I agree, this new update is definitely user friendly, seems a lot easier to use. It seems it's much easier to load media, and/or instantly see it(with out dealing with roxy, or the other way it was in 5.0).
Another major thing, which I was completely surprised by was the tethering ability. You don't even need a internet connection or a tethering app, just hook up your Blackberry and pick your service provider. Only problem for the boost users is our service provider is not listed. I tried Sprint for the heck of it but no luck there..instant connection fail. I was disappointed by that one I guess Boost people will still need tethering apps, but lots of other providers were listed.
Overall, I like it a lot, especially the way it now shows a large picture of your phone with the OS proudly displayed, your pin and the last time you backed it up. It's a great update to the last DM. - 08-17-2010, 06:52 AM #6
I just noticed the tethering last night stil83fifty. Its a really cool addition for those that can actually use it.

Well it always took for ever on my cpu so I wasn't worried about that. I thought was funny was when I went to update my bb to the OS (I'm running southern link on sprint/nextel in ny) and it said my device was update lol. Maybe will get a true update soon or the dm is spreading the wealth. Glad I got a response on this topic and if anyone want to post the bad to feel free and if you need help the last few 8350i are here help you

Wanted to mention one other thing I just noticed, the DM 6.0 makes it super easy to add any media(videos and pictures) from your own computer to your media card. I'm not sure, you probably could do this with the previous version, if so though, I was unable to figure it out.
On this version, it is beyond super easy, you can flip back and forth between media you have on your phone and media you have on your computer. It's a really nice feature, it seems RIM is going out of their way to make their new products very media friendly. - 08-18-2010, 12:55 PM #10
I'm heading for the 6.0 dld.
Hey, Still, you left off the "i"
EDIT: nice update from 5.0, refreshing the pics on usb is a little slow, though. USB 3.0 would be niceLast edited by b1gbleu; 08-18-2010 at 01:25 PM.
Shrunken OS 7.1.0.580 - 08-19-2010, 01:49 AM #12
I know, I know BB, I knew someone was gonna bust my chops
about it.
Alsa84,
This is a excellent question that I hope someone will help us with. I poked around as much as I could, and for the life of me I couldn't find anywhere to remove the service books.
Under "Delete Data" I found a thing that I could delete called "Service Books" but there were only five books to be deleted(are they split a new way now)...I always see 23 books on the 5.0 dm......When you goto app loader it appears you have only the option to load files , it doesn't give you the two windows with the ability to move files over or out.
I can't imagine this is the case though so a "how to" would be greatly appreciated here. B/c I'll delete this 6.0 in a quick second and re download the 5.0 if this is the case. B/c in reality, pretty much the only reason I use the DM, normally is to boost someones phone or my own. I hope some one can tell me what I'm missing right now on the new DM. Appreciate the help. - 08-20-2010, 03:05 AM #13
Well, just decided to download 5.0 again, at least until someone can explain how to edit the service books. Luckily, or not, I have no idea but I was able to download 5.0 while still retaining 6.0. I thought there might be a chance that downloading would override the previous, like 6.0 removed 5.0 when I downloaded it.
If someone could explain the editing of service books on 6.0 it would be greatly appreciated. - 08-20-2010, 05:21 PM #14
I like the Interface, took a while for DM 6 to recognize my BB but finally works.
