Default Compatibale carriers for 8350i?

I bought my 8350i and have been using it with Boost Mobile ever since. They recently made some company wide changes and their plans are horrible, not to mention customer service.

I've heard of many large companies such as Sprint, Nextel, and AT&T making some new plans that give unlimited text and talk for some reasonable prices.

Does anyone know of a few compatible carriers to use with the 8350i? Even if it requires cracking the service books or whatever it takes that doesn't harm the phone.

Thanks!

Nextel is your only other option. Beside Boost, the Nextel side of Sprint/Nextel is the only other iDEN carrier in the US. Boost actually uses Nextel's iDEN network. However, you might have better luck with customer service from Sprint. Coverage will be the same, since the network is the same.

So I can only use it with Nextel plans or Boost. No other way around it?

8350i is an iDen phone, and there are 2 carriers for it. Boost and Sprint/NexTel that I know of, so your choices are quite limited.

Honestly, the majority of users I've seen end up leaving both unless PTT is an absolute necessity. Your Curve is locked into the network, and cannot be moved to another service that doesn't have thoseiDen frequencies. You'd be better off moving to Sprint or another carrier and getting a nice phone upgrade.

Thanks a bunch. I'll have to either stick with Boost or try to find something suitable from Nextel until the phone gets too outdated.

Sprint will be discontinuing Nextel in 2013 anyway. Sprint To Discontinue Nextel Network Starting In 2013 - Technology News - redOrbit

I wonder how that merger will affect Boost Mobile customers? Obviously the service will go bye-bye since it's fully reliant on the Nextel network, but I'm thinking Sprint would want to create something similar (or keep the Boost name on a new network) to retain those customers... like me.

Boost already has a CDMA side. No Contract Phones & Prepaid Unlimited Plans | Boost Mobile

Anyone reading this gone from Nextel IDEN to Sprint CDMA that can comment on the voice quality? I always thought Nextel had great voice service, especially compared to Verizon (in my area anyway) when I switched briefly to them a couple years back. Verizon calls always sounded horribly thin and tinny.
