Default Boost Mobile garbled voicemail, phone or network?

Within the last few weeks, I can barely retrieve audible voicemails with my 8350i Boostberry. The messages sound horrible, all garbled like someone is talking while THEIR phone is bouncing around in their pocket. I may call back to retrieve the message an hour later, and it will be crystal clear. Or sometimes it will never clear up, regardless of the signal strength of my phone (I realize with a weak signal, any voice call may not be transmitted or received properly).

During a garbled problem last week, I even called my BB from a different cell phone to access the voicemail and had the same issue. This tells me that it's a problem with the Boost network (wherever they are storing voicemails) and not my phone. Yet when I called Boost customer service, they claimed they could not help me troubleshoot because my 8350i Boostberry is a Nextel phone not purchased from them. Even though the problem seems to have nothing to do with my phone.

Any suggestions or anyone with same Boost voicemail problems?

It sounds like an issue with the iDEN network. Rough Waters for Sprint Nextel

There probably will not be much done by Sprint/Nextel, since they are phasing out Nextel anyway. Sprint Nextel aims to phase out push-to-talk iDEN network by 2013 - FierceMobileIT

Yeah but 2013 is still 2 years away. And Boost is spending money on advertising right now, coming out with new plans and such. I'd think (hope) it's still in their best interest to keep the network running until it is officially shut down.

Boost sells CDMA phones too.

Right, you pointed that out to me in another thread earlier. I'm interested in how Sprint CDMA voice quality would compare with Nextel. I've always thought Nextel to have fabulous quality on voice calls, compared to Verizon especially.

Right but i think that's attributable to the fact that you are getting a better signal due to less activity on the towers, not sure if that's the correct way to put it. But I recall it was put to me that way, one things for sure the Iden phone signal is stronger and in more areas where cdma won't even come in at all.

Out here in Ohio people that live out in the hills all swear by 8350i's and iden phones, because they all have excellent signals out there, where as the cdma phones won't work at all. And using the 8350i for a long time and then switching to a 8330 boost branded(cdma) I can tell you personally that in places like grocery stores my signal would be full bars with my old 8350i...my new 8330 usually goes to X while in the store.

To answer the op though, I think there is no question it is the Boost networks issue your dealing with.
