Default BOOST 8350i SMS........

i dont have an answer to this issue yet but i am going to find one soon. heres the issue. we all want our SMS to work. can we agree on that? so far there doesnt seem to be any simple answer to get the native SMS working. however the native MMS does work great. being the owner of an 8330 on boost and an 8950 aldo on boost i do know what the 8350i is missing.

heres what i am getting at. it isnt the SMS that we need to work i beleive if we can simply make the MMS open in a threaded view or the bubble view we would be happy campers. the SMS's do not travel to boost phones any faster than the MMS's do and if you absaloutly have to see if someone is typing than you probably need an android or an iphone.

there is a setting in options to switch the MMS to bubble view but it doesnt work as long as the service books are installed. and even though we can go into the SMS / MMS folder the SMS option is not available inside the folder. so i am embarking on a mission to figure out how to unlock the bubble view option in the MMS service books. i found some chinese SMS MMS service books i am going to try in a day or two, right now i am exausted. if this works i will share the files if they are junk i will delete them.

i do not know how to read chinese so i dont know what these files promise but i will find out.

You can't replace the service books. They are pushed by your provider. Sooner or later, most likely the next time you reboot, your carrier's service books will be pushed back onto your device.

Curious, is there a known issue with SMS on a Boost Mobile 8350i?

I'm also curious, what is a 8950? I'm not familiar with that model of BlackBerry. Boost does not list it as a supported device anywhere I can see. The only BB's they list are 8330 and 8530.

Is the 8950 a nice device? It sounds fancy. Where can I buy one?

There's no sms with the 8350i, all messages are sent as mms. Therefore no threaded text.

Is that only with Boost, or the same with an 8350i on Sprint/Nextel too?

I just visited Sprint/Nextel's site, and saw this:

Full Messaging Capabilities

Instant Messaging and SMS Text Messaging.

Of course you can replace the service books. That's how we're able to get the 8350i to work with Boost.

On a side note, the i1 has threaded text and it runs mms on the very same iden network.
Personally, I could care less about sms. I'd just like to have threaded text with my mms.

thats exactly what i was getting at with my origonal post, i think we all just want a threaded view, and if anyone else was wondering the 8950 was a typo in my first post. ( i think we all knew that) anyways, back to the subject. the chinese service books were no good. i absaloutly hate having to look at 87 different messages to find the one i want to reply to. there has to be an ap that works with the native messaging system. i do not want to install 31 different im apps just so i can use instant messaging. **** 10 years ago every cell phone automatically sorted all of the text messages in a threaded view. are we supposed to think it is impossible for these bb's to do the same.
out of the box with just my boost sim installed the text messaging worked perfect. it wasnt until i pushed the service books to get the browser working that i lost the messaging. i wonder what would happen if we seperated the combined three and only installed the browser service books. has anyone tried this? just curious.

just try loading the whole combined 3, then go into your service books on the device and delete the browser. doesn't cost anything to try.

Sorry, I see you're right about the Service Books after a little reading. This isn't how it works with other current BB models. I didn't realize that anyone with an 8350i on Boost was NOT on BIS. That's why it's different with the Service Books I'm guessing… no BIS means no Service Books push by network.
