From personal experience, I know that using WiFi, does not increase your wireless coverage/reception. You acquire a better connection, however it does not make the coverage bars go up. The only time I see my WiFi strength is when I go to Options->WiFi, or when I'm on BB App World v3.0. Blackberry's do not have a WiFi "signal strength" indicator. When your WiFi is turned on (not necessarily connected), there is an icon on the top right of the screen that is grayed-out. It may still be that gray color when you're connected to a network, however, when you have made a SOLID connection, that icon will be white. Another way to know if you're connected to a WiFi network or not, is to look at the top of the screen above the clock. I have Nextel, so above the clock it says "Nextel" when I have service. When I'm connected to my network at home, it says "Nextel-linksys". |
