    Default 8350i Nextel Mexico OS

Has anyone successfully upgraded to OS 5 in Mexico? I've tried twice and both times had to revert back to original OS 4.61.204. The 8350i just will not work with new OS.

    Thanks

I did it and my phone is working great. You have to use the latest Desktop Software, if you have any problem the support from Nextel Mexico can help you, just dial *888 from your phone

Thanks for your reply. Which version of OS v5 did you use and where did you get it?

I have the OS v5.0.0.1074, you can find more information about it and download the OS from Nextel Mexico web page.

    Cheers

Thank you. I actually went to the Nextel Mazatlan office and had the technico guy install OS 5. He also managed to fix the GPS which never refreshed. So, now I am mostly happy with the phone.
There is one thing that I can't figure out. Maybe you know the answer. I used to have the convenience key lock the keyboard. I can't seem to find that option with OS 5. Does anyone know anything about enabling that?

I found this information in another thread here

They changed the system so you can lock the keyboard without security locking the BB. The BB lock is intended to primarily be a security lock not a power saving or accidental input lock.

There are 2 keys that will lock the keyboard. Holding the top "mute" button or the A key until the screen dims will lock the keyboard and put it to sleep but NOT lock the BB. The top button "mute" will unlock the keyboard and wake it up.

The holster locks the keyboard (is your refrigerator light really off when you close the door? ) Hold a magnet to the keyboard and push any key - it's locked so it won't dial accidentally in the holster.

I find it very convenient that the keyboard automatically unlocks when you remove it from the holster; you may not.

To security lock the BB and get the icon you have to set a password. Set a password and the lock icon will appear. Using the icon or setting a side key to "Password Lock" WILL lock the BB requiring password to unlock. With password set you can also set the holster to lock the BB (requiring password) or not.

    Saludos
