Unlocked curve wont read new sim!!!
Hi there!
So I'm not a total noob to bb's. I recently broke my torch, so I bought a cheap 9300 through a Canadian carrier called Mobilicity. Unfortunately I need my phone for work, and mobilicity works pretty much nowhere around where I live, or in my house. I seem to have a habit of breaking phones by accident, and have had a brand new rogers sim for a long time, kicking around in my house... about 6 years. I decided that I was going to go to crackberry.com and figure out how to unlock my phone. I did so, went to freemyblackberry.com and got my MEP. I used it to, from what I can tell, unlock my phone (as in the MEPD menu, eveerything is disabled). I am wondering if turning off all my network connections would have affected my unlock as the first posting on how to on crackberry was incomplete as it did not include that information, although all other steps were completed properly and seemingly effectively.
after unlocking and "code accepted!" i went and loaded a plan on to my unactivated sim card and was all ready to go. I took my battery out, put in the new rogers sim card, and rebooted the phone. it doesnt display anything in the top bar where the carrier usually is, and it just says SOS in the signal bar area. I am wondering if maybe somehow my rogers sim may have been somehow weathered or damamged over the years and that is why its not working? I have since called rogers and they verified that my cell phone should, if unlocked work on their network with my IMEI.
Any help would be soooo much appreciated.... thanks so much!!!
