    Default tethering off my BB

On my iTouch I happened to go to wireless networks, and saw my BB on it. I didn't realize I could do that! Anyway so I tried connecting, couldnt. How can I use it to connect? I have unlimited data so not concerned about the data charges.

    Thanks!

If it is a 7.1 device, you just have to turn on mobile hotspot. Beyond that, I'm not too sure if any BlackBerry can tether

Not sure what 7.1 even means. Can you elaborate?

To be honest I assumed tether is the word b/c Ive heard other people use it. Am I using it correctly?

Basically I saw it in my iTouch under wireless networks. Does that mean my iTouch can access it for the net?

7.1 is referring to BB OS7.1

The 9300 does not have OS7.1 therefore no Wifi Hotspot feature.

I don't see how as OS6 does not have the wifi hotspot feature.

Are you sure it's not a bluetooth connection you are seeing?

im not sure i understand what you're saying, as it seems as if your two sentences are contradicting each other? however i just went to wi-fi and i dont see the BB there anymore, tho im pretty sure this was the screen i saw it in earlier. i do see the BB in the bluetooth tho. would pairing them help?

I'm not sure how they are contradicting? The 9300 runs OS6 - the wifi hotspot feature is only available in OS7.1

You may be able to pair the two devices via bluetooth but I don't believe you will be able to use the internet connection on the 9300 via your ipod.

i think i may have misread your first statement

gotcha. thanks for the help. the only point im confused by now is why i saw the BB in the wireless network. assuming i did indeed see that (i guess its possible i was mistaken) then would there be a way to make it work?

IF you did see your blackberry as an available wifi connection then in theory yes. But as previously stated, the 9300 does not have the necessary software.

I have the BB 3g 9330 - any idea if I can use it as a hotspot for my laptop? Our purchasing dept says yes but I can't figure out how to turn the hotspot feature on if there is such a feature. Thanks in advance for any help.
