I updated my post
Be careful doing this update. I lost everything and did a restore and nothing came back. All of a sudden, things showed up again but all the icons were out of order and in wrong folders and still a lot of info is missing. Can no longer get into Blackberry Apps. The phone went back to just factory settings and then minutes later most is back. I called Sprint and they told me that's what happens when you do an update. They told me NOT to do updates in the future. I could lose everything. My theme came back but it doesn't look anything like the one I paid for.Last edited by stevejay1761; 12-22-2010 at 08:51 PM.

ALWAYS back up your stuff before doing that...sorry if it sounds harsh but common sense and a good precautionary measure.

Culex316 is correct. Always for OTA updates do a full backup on your pc first before updating your device.

It looks like all my free apps came back and all I paid for are no longer on the phone. I guess I won't buy apps anymore, especially if there are updates and they will wipe away all paid apps. The rest of my family will not update as they bought a bunch of apps and don't want to re purchase them every time there is an update. Maybe this is the intent of BB. I can no longer log onto BB apps anyway since this update.

Available to download and install via desktop

Also you should not have to pay again for the apps. If you bought them via Appworld, it will follow your userid. If you did through other sources it should let you install again if its the same pin unless the developer has not release a update for 6.0. - 12-23-2010, 07:59 AM #10
You do have to pay for apps again. Example...my wife's brand new phone had a problem and had to get a new one and send the old one back but before she did it, she was told to bring it into Sprint and they can move all the information over to her new phone. Her apps, ringtone...etc. could not be moved and she was told that she would have to purchase them again. She tried everything to get them back but had to spend the money. I think this is why the Sprint people, last night, told me not to update the phone in the future because we will have to purchase everything again. I can see this as a way that BB can make money. Update the phones every so often and make people re purchase items. Great way to increase earnings.

I update constantly and try all of the beta's, I also update friends & family phones the same way and have never experienced the issues you had. Pretty sure you got the worst rep Sprint had to offer as well.
I feel bad for you, but don't think that your situation is the norm, it just sounds like a bit of bad luck.
EDIT: Most purchased apps are PIN based, if you don't change your phone and only change the OS the app will not need to be re-purchased.Last edited by probesport; 12-23-2010 at 08:10 AM.

Thanks for all the answers. I really wanted to put my IPHONE SIMULATOR back on and I would have to pay for it again. It was in my download file before I updated but with the update there is no longer a download file on the phone, so it is gone. I tried to see if I can download it again and I would have to pay for it. I am just going to stay away from apps from now on as I don't want to have to keep paying and re installing every time BB updates anything.

I installed the new OS today on my 9330 and had no problem with my third party apps. Both the free and paid for apps from Blackberry App World and Crackberry are still there and still working. a few of them required me to reactivate them with the activation code but that is it.
I did not do OTA though. I downloaded the installer package from sprint and used it from the computer. the First thing it did was backup my phone before proceeding with the install. After the OS is installed it restored the phone. - 12-23-2010, 05:14 PM #16
No. There is no 9300 for sprint. The 9300 is the GPRS version, meaning they use SIM cards, along with other slight differences.if this was for that phone it would say 9300/9330. Use common sense people. Also, OS 5 themes will not work on OS 6. TB is still not out of Beta as of yet. Theming OS 6 would only be able to produce minimal changes anyway.

This is NOT for the curve 9300, Only for the Sprint Curve 9330.
Also, I did the OTA upgrade last night and experienced NO issues with loosing apps, free or paid. Also I sell phones for sprint and the rep you must have talked to was BS, the ONLY time you should have to repay for an app is if you switch phones or carriers, not if you do an OS update. If an app says it is not compatible with the new OS try to uninstall it and reinstall it. This should (if the app has been updated for the new os) download the NEW version.
example: when I upgraded to OS6 (leaked, AND official) I had to reinstall Crunchsms (paid) (because it said it wasn't compatible w/ os6) and it worked fine after that.
BeWeather (paid) worked fine right out of the gate, but required me to re-enter the activation code that was emailed to me (NEVER delete these emails, save them) - 12-23-2010, 05:51 PM #18
just a note on small issues w/ upgrade
I have notice in both .357 AND .415 (however not as bad as .357) when I am scrolling through the homescreen "organisation wheel?" it skips over "all" every now and again. Not having and issue with the others, just "all". Also when I click on the settings bar at the top of the screen the scrolling selector bar disappears occasionally. I would be interested to know if anyone else noticed these bugs since doing the upgrade?

I'm sorry for your troubles. Where did you purchase your apps? IMHO you should not have to purchase them again. Also I don't know why a Sprint Store would tell you not to upgrade as this is just a short term solution.
I downloaded OS 6 OTA and installed with no problems. All of my paid apps were reinstalled with the upgrade. If I had to reinstall any of my apps, they are all available online along with the activation code. I hope everything works out for you.

Anybody with word to go premium having problem typing symbol on their curve after os 6 upgrade? Mine that key does not working anymore after upgrade to leak .418 on curve 9300. Now upgrading to doc to go latest version .105 for os 6 still not working. I think it is os 6 issue

I lost all my Autotext when I went from the leaked 6.0 to the official Sprint OS 6.0. I only had a few custom ones (maybe 20 tops) so I re-added them, no big deal.
