Default Naughty 3 uk

Hi guys.

My first post so i hope you can help.

Last August I got myself a curve 9300 on the three network as it was a good price. Now since ive had this handset my data speeds have been slow to zero. I thought at first it might just have been my location as i have been working in some far out places but my signal meter is full, I can make a call, text or send a bbm albeit a bit slow in sending but it gets there. If I try and surf the web or post on facebook it fails most of the time. I reported this to the the shop and they told me to contact cusomer services. After months of being told to keep an eye on it and them doing next to nothing i went mental on the phone and asked for the handset to be tested. Out came an envelope and away it went for test and possible repair. They are now telling me the the mainboard is water damaged and this is causing the fault which is not covered under warranty.
I have never dropped this phone in water or used it in the rain. It has always been dry.

The question is , am i being fleeced by the repair company/three uk and does this sound plausable as a fault to hamper my data reception?

any help is much appreciated folks
