Hi

I am fairly new to the Blackberry scene having started using a used BB Curve 9300 about a month ago. I had 2 email accounts setup - Yahoo and Gmail - and I had set my contacts to sync with Yahoo and everything was working flawlessly. Then about a week ago I noticed that upon updating a couple of contacts in the BB - the updates did not get carried over to Yahoo contacts (on the web). I ignored it thinking that to be a one-time occurrence.

Then last night I realized that some of my contacts were showing duplicate entries. It took some figuring out to realize that somehow my Gmail contacts have also started syncing and were causing duplicates. It was a major hassle to remove the Gmail contacts from my contacts list. Was able to do that only after online research - by going to Contacts --> Options --> RSET and selecting Gmail contacts and deleting that.

That was the easy part - now I am trying to check the check box in Setup ---> Email Accounts ---> Edit ---> Synchronization Options ----> and select the "Contacts" check box. Exit and save after giving my Yahoo account password. But still the sync was not working - so I went back to the above setup screen and lo and behold - found the check box to be "unchecked". I have already tried doing this several times - but to no avail. Have also removed the battery few times - still it does not work.

Any ideas will be most appreciated. On searching the net (& Crackberry) I could not really find this specific issue nor any solution.

Please HELP !!!

I've had the same problem it is not a BlackBerry problem rather a Yahoo email issue ... Yahoo has recently discontinued the sync capabilities for its contact list and calender ... solution is to export your yahoo contacts via the yahoo_ab.csv file this is done right from your yahoo mail options. Save this file to your desktop computer ... set up a google email account and import the contacts from your desktop to your new google mail account. Now add your new google email account to your blackberry and viola all your new google contacts will sync to the BlackBerry. As far as I know google still syncs to Blackberry no problem. Don't you hate work around's ... I think Yahoo is going to loose some clients!

I have the same phone and a very similar problem. I use Yahoo mail, but it's all POP'ed to Outlook and my contact list is an Outlook contact list. I'm trying to sync the contacts from Outlook to the BB. What has happened is that on the Desktop Manager software, the Contact Sync option is grayed out. When I look at my BB backups, recent ones don't include an Address Book, and older ones have the Address Book greyed out. What's going on, and how can I re-enable contact sync? If I do an rset will that re-enable my contact sync?
