How do I change the frequency of downloading e-mails?
Basically is it possible to change how often my bb syncs with my e-mail address to show my latest e-mails, say every half-hour? I was wondering would this option use less internet as it would only sync every so often, thanks.

No. It is not adjustable.

Sorry Man this is what makes Blackberry Great, it uses Push Email. Usually from the moment the sender presses send, you get the email withing 10 seconds.
