    Default Blackberry newbie in headspin

    Hi there,

I'm new to Blackberries and very glad to have found this great site

I've got a Curve 9300 and it's using OS5. I can see there's a new OS6 available (or maybe soon-to-be available: I'm not quite sure), and that lots of people have installed leaked versions.

I'm wondering whether I should upgrade to the new OS, and if so then how should I do it. Looking round the forums I've seen reference to more than one method, but I'm keen not to lose the few apps I've already purchased and don't want to make a mistake.

If you can help with advice I'd be very grateful. It's not that I haven't looked around, but there's so much info on here that my head is spinning with it all!

If you are new and your head is spinning, then you should not attempt to upgrade the device OS yet.

Just wait. Get to know how the device works and then see if you want to upgrade later when you understand how it works.

Read the forums. Read the "How to" section. Read the BlackBerry 101 lectures under BlackBerry Help on the forums.

You will learn a lot that way.

Thanks -- that sounds like good advice. I'll go and read those things.

    Thanks again

MotorcycleMama is right on. There is no rush. Get comfortable with the phone first. Expand bit by bit. A new OS is a fine thing. The process is daunting the first time. But in the end as you gain control of themes, apps, and OS the full BB experience is yours. Enjoy.
