Default Blackberry Curve 9300 problems after upgrade

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Any help will be very much appreciated.

I have had the blackberry 9300 for a week now, and after tweeking it and switching off 3g I found the battery life suitable for my lifestyle. However last night I upgraded my software and found that it has about half the battery life that it used to. I am now using 6.0.0.546 platform 6.6.0.207. I would like to downgrade to the lower version that I had previously but am unable to remember the version. Is there anyway that I can find this out? I have done about two back-ups before I upgraded to this version. The version I would like to downgrade was loaded already on my phone when I got it. It is difficult to source my original version as there are so many versions below it. Also do you think if I load the original version is will help my phone return to normal?

I suggest try the more updated build, like the .723 I got better battery with this one leaving 3g on, and better radio and browser too.

Go on to desktop manager and when you click on file and update, a dialogue box pops up and in the left hand bottom corner is a button which says previous versions which shows you the previous versions that can be downloaded so that you can downgrade your device easily using the desktop manager.

Hi thanks for the replies! Sorry for the late reply :/

I realise now that my CPU is on about 60% when I just use options without edge or FB or any app. working. The only thing that is on is BBM.

I also realise that DM probably didn't wipe my phone before installing the upgrade, as a result my BB could be "running" both versions leading to the high CPU use.

@odzk:When I wipe my phone before installing the old version: what type of wipe should I use (factory/security reset?). Also where can I get a reliable link for this upgrade? Thanks!

@MysticMeg:Thanks so much!

hello,

i dont do wipe, its a pain syncing everything especially my contacts, i got thousands of them, works fine me though without the wipe, but if encounter application crashes, its better if you do a factory wipe, and install everything fresh after the update.

here is the thread for the .723, and i use curve 3g 9300

Official OS 6.0.0.723 for BlackBerry Curve 9300 from Pelephone

btw, dont forget to removed the vendor.xml before upgrading.

Good luck

i dont think its not possible to run both version at the same time, our phone is not that powerful to run 2 version of OS simultaneously, (though i wish it could) but with a limited processor of 624 mhz, dont think so, when you open options and click on the cpu usage, try to wait for a min and check if the cpu usage settle down, if not then something is running on the back ground that is not visible to you. as per my previous post, better to upgrade to a higher version, for some reason rim they extended the memory threshold of the browser, my browser used to crash alot with ver .666 giving me memory error messages with 2 websites open, but now i can enjoy the browser a little better, though it will lag a little (which is understandable with a limited memory) if you open alot of apps, but better than browser automatically closing it telling me that there is no memory.

Thanks so much for all your help, again, I must apologise for the very late reply.

I actually took my BB in for repairs, got a free battery and upgrade. It works okay-ish, I guess I will never be happy with the Battery usage, because I am comparing it to Nokia (E63, had amazing battery life).

Thanks for all your help, opinions and time! I truly appreciate it.
