| | BB doesn't connect to 3G
Hello everybody,
I am having a problem with my bb 9300 that I have for about a few days ago, and I haven't had been able to connect it to the 3G. I've tried a lot of things, I've also called several times to my carrier and they couldn't help me. As final option they have said me: or to contact with the blackberry team (what it's impossible because the only number I've found redirect me to my carrier) or to send the device to the technical service (what I don't want).
I have an Internet Plan and the Blackberry Service activated. I can also navigate perfectly, and use app like messenger, but with the GPRS speed, not the 3G.
The things I have tried are the following:
1-To select manually the network---> My bb doesn't found any 3G network, only 2g networks. This is strange because where I live there is 3G coverage.
2-To upgrade the phone-->It has the latest firm, and I have also tried to install the os5, but It still doesnīt connect to the 3G network.
3-Hard Reset--->I take off the battery, then I put it again and...the bb connects to the 3G network!! But a few seconds later it loses the signal and switches to GPRS.
4-To Wipe-->I do the wipe and still nothing.
5-To turn off Blackberry Service-->I turn it off, wait for 30min, and turn it on, and nothing occurs.
6-Host Routing Table-->There is a list with a lot of numbers, and all of them start by "GPRS" except one that starts with "Wi-Fi". I donīt know if this is normal, what do you have in this list? Something that starts with "3G" maybe?
I don't know what to do, i have had another blackberry with my old carrier and I have never had any problem. Any idea?
Regards,
Eduardo
P.S: I have forgoten to say that i cannot configure my mail. Whenever I lunch the Email Account Management: or the screen freezes, or it shows me a message saying that "Unable to open email setup application. Contact your wireless service provider".

If you look at the Mobile Network Options, is your network mode set to "3G & 2G", "3G", or "2G".
If you're definitely in a 3G area, what does setting it to "3G" only do?

Did you buy this phone directly from your carrier?
or did you buy it unlocked from a 3rd party (eBay, or a friend)
seems like you got one with the wrong bands.

I've bought it directly from my carrier.
In any case, I think the problem is not the phone, is the Blackberry Service...

If you bought it directly from the carrier, then you should probably go to the store where you got it from and ask them to take a look at it and replace it/ refund it if they can't fix it.

Thank you for your quick response, I have gone to a store, and they don't know what is going on with my BB, so they have offer me to send it to the technical service. The thing is that i don't belive that is a hardware problem, is something with the software or the BIS.

As it shows 3G for a brief moment then drops, you have a signal reception issue. Does it show 3G outdoors? Does it show it in other areas?

It doesn't matter where I am (in my city, with full 3G coverage), when I hard reset the BB it connects to 3G for a moment and then it loses the signal. It seems like, when it connects to the Blackberry Service it doesn't get the 3G certificate or something like that because Blackberry doesn't allow it =S It is what I suppose...

I'd demand a new phone straight away and make sure it works before leaving the store.

Your carrier has a 7 day return policy, that's pretty messed up.

In the UK, we have the Sale of Goods Act which gives the consumer 6 months of protection, so if an item fails during that time it is assumed that it was faulty at the time of purchase and you are entitled to a repair/replacement.
Regardless of a carrier/shop's "policy" - it does not supercede Law |
