Hey Mike, My wife has the Curve 3G and she loves it! It is a really great device. Of course it has lower specs like a 2.0 mp camera with no flash and a lower resolution screen than the Bold, torch, style, storm etc. That stuff doesnt matter to my wife she never uses the camera and is happy with it. It has a great battery life with OS6 and runs it very smoothly from what I can tell. It still does everything your torch does just a more basic version. I would definitely recommend it if she doesnt require the top quality BB. By that I mean it is still very well made but it is more of a budget bb. Hope I was some help

I got a 9300 Curve 3G for xmas and I really like it - it came with OS5 and it's simple to use, the apps work well and - assuming it's for simple stuff and nothing demanding - your wife will get on fine. It does Facebook and the social stuff quite well. If she gets on with your Torch, then everything should be fine.

Keep in mind the CDMA (Sprint/Verizon) Curve 3Gs come with 512MB RAM and Storage and the GSM (T-Mobile/AT&T/etc.) Curve 3Gs come with 256MB RAM and Storage.
Having double the RAM can have a significant impact on performance especially when you're multi-tasking lots of applications. Having doubel the storage affects how many apps/emails/etc. you can have on the device, and when storage gets low performance drops substantially.
THe GSM versions have like 111MB Free after a clean boot (after the Setup Wizard deletes extra languages, etc.) and with an OS6 leak on it it's down to 88MB with just the OS and stuff on it, after the Setup Wizard.
So I'd say the device is worth getting if you're on a CDMA carrier, but if you have a factorable amount of data to work with and a Social Networker (FB, Twitter, 2-3 Email Accounts, Synching PIM Data from Outlook, etc.) I'd pass on the Curve 3G on a GSM Network and get the Bold 9780 or Torch.
Curves are nice as off-contract business devices. I don't think that SKU is worth a contract - personally, but the CDMA variant does give it a bit more favorability. - 01-19-2011, 03:13 PM #5
I've had my 9300 for about a month now, and really like it (I got it on upgrade, free after rebate, through T-Mobile). It's true that it has half the RAM of the CDMA version, but it's snappy with OS5. I also had OS6 on it for a while, and it ran just as fast, so I wouldn't worry about speed (for the record, the reason I went back to OS5 had nothing to do with the speed or useability of OS6). Also, I've got about a dozen apps I've installed along with the standard stuff, and as it stands, I still have 116MB of free space (with OS6 and the same apps, I had 107MB's of free space). I think a lot of the people that have brought up the speed/memory stuff are either just guessing or repeating something they've heard, and don't actually own the device.

I have been using my Curve 3g 9330 since october (actually the day was released for sprint) and I haven't had ANY problems with this device at all.. I am running OS 5 and I am very happy with the decision I made... Email, social apps and browser works great.. Call quality and battery life is amazing.. Coming from a Curve 8330 is was a great upgrade for me... I've tried OS 6 and I didn't like how clutter it looked and the browser not having column view really turned me off so I went back to OS5, much simple to look at and the menus didn't look clutter and hard to read! I don't take many pics so the 2.0 camera wasn't a issue.. And I don't have a problem with the screen resolution.. Its looks great for wallpaper and pics (imo) so I am a very satisfied customer..

Can anyone comment with the keyboard difference between the curve 3g and the bold 9650?
I played around with both at the store, curve keys seemed raised more and bold keys seemed more flat. in my 15 minutes or so using both, I couldn't really tell which was better? - 01-20-2011, 08:17 AM #10"T-Dub"

That's entirely based on your own preferences. Some people prefer the bold keyboard, some people prefer the curve keyboard. Personally I prefer the curve keyboard because of the spaces between the keys. The bold keyboard, in my opinion feels like 1 large button and its tough to get to the correct key, because you can't feel the distinct keys like u can on the curve.
