I've had my Classic for just about a year now and for the last month or so my screen pauses with a black screen for about 10-15 seconds then comes back to normal for a few short seconds then black again. It keeps doing that and I wait till it stays on long enough to restart it and it seems to help for a bit. Any solutions how to stop this from happening? It always seems to happen if I'm texting or writing a bbm.

But I'd reload a new or better different OS and rule out it being a software issue... if it still happens it is a hardware problem.

You could try seeing if it just a lose connection between the display and the motherboard. Lose connection could generate heat that eventually cause the connection to expand and get worse... it cools off and the connection get better.
