[Salmo 2014]

So I'm not new to BB but new to having anything beyond a curve, poor computer literacy. The problem just seemed to start, on opening anything it will suddenly jump to this large font/icons etc and every time I have to pinch it down. How can I get it back to the way it was

I would wager that you've had a recent OS update. Some users have had the same issue.

From the home screen, swipe down from the top and tap "Settings", then scroll down and tap "Accessibility". Look for "Magnify Mode". It's probably enabled. Toggle it off. That should do the trick.
