What kind of a question is that? Buy the phone whenever you want to.

Umm it's a good question cuz it's not out in Canada or NA yet? Best time to buy it is when it's released. It won't be expensive either way. It's available in UK, UAE, n China

The best time to buy the Classic is just immediately before you need it...

Are you buying it out of pocket or on contract?

If out of pocket, the best time is at the end of the month, when people need to liquidate belongings to pay their bills, and Kijiji/Craigslist/Gumtree get a surge of new postings

If on contract, Back to School is (one of) the best time to buy, because they offer phones for $0, so (if applicable) you pay off the "balance" of your contract and then "buy" a new phone for $0 (warning: this means you have to renew your current contract for another 2 years, but if you aren't planning on leaving your cell phone provider, this is a great option!)

I'm not sure if I explained this well, so here's an example: I had an iPhone and wanted a Classic- my current "balance" (some companies call this your "tab") ran out in October this year, so to be eligible to upgrade my phone, I had to pay $73. My carrier was offering Blackberries for $49 this month, so I had to pay $49 + 73 to get a Classic. (And then sold my iPhone on Kijiji for $320....so it worked out )

Bbstoof already explained it pretty well. If buying used (even in mint condition), the end of a month is always a good choice.

If you want to buy a new phone, typical upcoming events like back to school, black friday or anniversary deals can you save you some money. Of course so would be the release of a successor phone. The latter is not the case with the Classic, so unless there might be some sale event coming up, there is little reason to wait.
