Hello,

m the process of returning my second Q 10 back under Verision Warrenty.
The keyboard malfunctions.
keys stick and practically start typing on their own when only pressing one key.
tried doing full re set and upgrading to current software version.
Another replacement is on its way.

But I really miss the track pad.

All my past BB's with trackpads broke.
The track ball had be replaced numerous times on all of these.
Last time as on my Tour.

Does anyone know if they have improved the track pad on the Classic?

I would like to purchase one if its reliable.

You should be fine, I've had to clean/replace many trackballs, never a trackpad.

Short answer: correct. There is no trackBALL on the classic

Long answer: wrong. There is a trackball* on the classic
Note: *the trackball has evolved. It is no longer a BALL. Now it is an upside down laser mouse aka PAD.

Longer answer: Both the trackBALL and trackPAD perform identical functions, but the trackPAD far more precise and 0 maintenance. The classic has a trackPAD, not BALL

I have never had a BlackBerry trackpad fail me, on any BlackBerry device I have ever owned. It is a very well made device (Classic). I have, however, had 'track ball' failures long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

I had two trackpads fail om me both on torch 9860s. The trackpad on the classic doesn't have any obvious design change other than it seems to protrude less from the phone. Both my failed trackpads got stuck pressed down. I don't think BlackBerry has addressed this from a hardware perspective. However bb10 requires very little actual depression of the trackpad to operate whereas bb7 required it frequently. So I think they may have fixed it from a software perspective.
