I have a Z10 and I never shut it down. It's on 24/7. Only time it's shut down temporarily is for restarts.

You save on battery by shutting down. No doubt.

Ive never tried it but does phone start up if an alarm is set and its turned off? Does internal clock work like this or no?

I close all network connections (also telephone) over night. This saves a lot of energy and data volume. Note: when you cut network connections, especially data connections, so that the device has not a single one anymore, some apps, especially data volume counters, tend to drain the battery much more compared to when they have a connection. I tried several ones because of this.

No it doesn't. It's not like older BB's that never really turned off, BB10 when shut off are off. I always charge overnight so using energy isn't an issue for me, as far as data I'm always on wifi at home also so no big deal there either for me.

According to this How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries - Battery University no as long as the charger and phone follow the not continuing to charge after full which most all do.

I also keep on 24/7 and keeping charged in night. I try to do charging only in night and try to avoid in day or frequent interval.

I use bedside mode at night and keep it plugged in. Not only do you get a beautiful red alarm clock, you can also create a bedside profile that only certain people can reach you. Or you can just shut every network connection down and it will save batteries

I have a Classic and I shut down (and charge) at night 4/5 nights a week. I have indeed noticed that doing that makes my battery lasts longer during the day and my device operates smoother (because, I believe, doing that clears stuff from the memory that slows the device down). I've been doing this since my Q10 era and it's served me well.

Why would you need to ask this? Do whatever you want with your phone, the power is yours to behold.

I plug it in and leave it on over night (z10), only reboot it every 2-3 days when 10.3.1 has its scheduled crazy slow down/lag period

Go to set up and Advance Interaction; then set you device to Flip To Save Power. This will turn off your phone when you lay it down on its face.

I have removed all the IMF and nuance files from my phone yesterday. That will speed up your phone and save your battery. the white area on the graph is when I was when I was deleting files and down loading.

We leave our devices on 24/7 other than to restart, either during a software update or every few weeks just to clear out temporary data that is held in memory (RAM) and have never had an issue.
