Chen said second half of the year (after second quarter I think) so this seems too far away. Maybe the Q30/Windemere with the new Keyboard concept will be 2015 as that would require a longer development and testing time?

The only other issue may be configuring BB10 for use with track pad and that's why they need to produce more 9900's to keep up corporate supply for the rest of this year before they can get the Q20 software implementation working properly

If blackberry is making money off of the device and not loosing, then i see it is a good deal for the short term only. At some point they are going to have to break away from BBOS devices. Like someone mention in another thread, I think the new BSOS device production is a stop gap measure until the classic line comes out along with BES12. It seems like Blackberry has most of the stuff lined up to take care of the needs of the people who like BBOS with the classic BB10 device, but the one thing Blackberry has not address and that is the data plans that so many of the BBOS devices are on.

Right now I have a lower data plan because of BIS and thus a lower cell phone bill, but if I go to a BB10 device I know my bill is going to have to go up because of the fact that I will need more than the 300 mb data plan that I currently have. In countries ouside of the USA, that is going to be a problem due to low average salary in those countries.

That's interesting...does it mean actual quarter 1 of 2015 (Jan-Mar) or does it mean Q1 of BB fiscal year (which would put it April-June).

I can't see the point of announcing a phone back in January 2014 that is a year away.

Thoughts?

Seems like guesswork built on guess work haha.

If Chen actually said that, I would guess he would be referring to fiscal Q1.

However I remember Chen suggesting elsewhere that the Q20 hardware was ready to go but that the software aspects needed wouldn't be ready until around November.

I think there's been a slight error in the dates. I believe the author is getting Fiscal 2015 confused with 2015. From my interpretation of John Chen via the transcript, the Q20 is coming out in Late 2014. And the Z3 "WILL" be available at least Q3 2014 all over the world and/or in select countries, North America being one of the areas.

What a shame the the Q20 is ready to go, but software is holding it back. So hardware will be outdated by the time we see it? Again?

And I hope it gets released simultaneously in Asia! Or at least within 2014 as well; too long a wait if we get the Q20 over here in 2015. I'd be totally envious of all the CB posts about new Q20s while I'm still stuck waiting.

There are a lot of amazing products coming up by the end of the year, such as the nexus 6. So I hope BlackBerry is coming up with something really appealing and rather sooner than later. I'm really looking forward to this thing. Could be the BlackBerry phone of my dreams.

In the same way to the Q20, he gave the Z3 a launch timeframe of March/April on the Q3 earnings call. I'd say he's pretty spot on if the Z3 is released this month in say Indonesia.

Well they have to announce a new product soon! The market will ask for it and phones Q10 and Z10 already a year old and that is in cellphones super old! The hardware was almost a year old so that makes it almost two!
When a S4 came out right after rumours are starting and then it was there not even I year later if I am right!

Blackberry just can't afford to be waiting everything moves so fast and always want the best devices!
