Sorry if it has been already asked/answered, but does the classic comes with a paratek antenna like the Z30 and the Passport?

    Don't think so.

It's not being advertised on their main website as a feature, nor is it in their manual guide.

I cntrl + f everywhere, cannot find a droplet of information!

edit: Looking for more information on this so called "Paratek Antenna technology"

I cannot find anything about it, no pictures of the antenna, or diagram.

Not sure if marketing gimmick or actual tech.

Really interested in this matter. I just find it weird how on Blackberry's website they are very vague.

I was asking cause I've read somewhere (probably in the BB10 OS section) that the Classic 'uses' the same radio as the Z30... There was a user who (in Germany) received a 10.3.1 update that was adressed for the Classic and someone replied that it can happen because they use the same radio..

Not the exact same, but Paratek nonetheless, yes.

Every BB10 device has an antenna made by paratek since the acquisition.

And remember guys paratek is a name of a company. It is not an antenna spec or model like how apple brands their "retina" displays which means jack all.

So yes the classic has the same radio and antenna as the Z30 so it does have an antenna made by paratek.

So..the only two models which came out without a 'paratek-make' antenna are the Z10 and the Q10?
Q5,Z30,Z3,Classic and Passport all have it? Thx for your replies

The first two BB10 devices, the Z10 and Q10, are the only BB10 devices that were not released with the antenna tech from the Paratek acquisition, to the best of my knowledge. The Classic might be a homage to BBOS, but it makes little sense to leave such an integral part of BlackBerry hardware moving forward out of what's essentially the flagship 10.3.1 device.

I'm not sure if it's because of Paratek or not, but recently started a consulting contract at a secure facility. The resident engineering manager said, ok folks you won't be able to receive any cell signal here because it's a giant emf cage.... sure enough, all the iphones around us were dead, but full signal on my passport, I had to declare it, much to the shock and horror of everyone around me.

What's the point of buying out a company if not to use its tech on all your products?

Why only the Z30 and not the rest?

Blackberry is lousy at marketing their technology, but it's there.

Thanks. The link only refers to the passport, but I understand your logic. Not much use in having cool sounding marketing gimmicks if you don't use them though .

Yeah, I remember BlackBerry hyping the Paratek on the Z30s. Works quite nicely, although a continuously weak signal can eat up battery noticeably. I heard that the Classic will have a Paratek some months ago, and can't imagine why it wouldn't be included.

    Hi

But I think that Classic has not such antennas.
I have problems at home in some areas when iam on a call. On the same place with my Passport: absolutely fine connection.

So Paratek is maybe not included in Classic.

The radio on my Q5 is nowhere near as good as the one in the Z10, so I doubt it's got the better one.

It's always fun when friends phones don't connect to wifi or no signal and I'm the only only one who got it.
