This thread re BB 10 contains the answer.

Here is how it works on my Blackberry Classic SQC100-4 with 10.3.1.747 on AT&T:

Add a pause in a Contact's phone number by pressing N (that inserts a "," which is a "p" when inserted.

If you need to add a wait press B (that inserts an "!) which is a "w" when inserted.

Example of a Contact's phone number string for a speed dial that automatically inserts a password (this is the form of my speed dial to my AT&T voice mail. The 8136544321 number is only an example of a carrier's voice-mail number to call from your Blackberry Classic. Your carrier might also require a # after the password or an additional number to start listening to new voice mail messages):

Sure wish that the pause worked on the Q10. It doesn't matter whether I insert a p or w, they both act as a wait and I have to tap Dial to send the extension.
