After reading this and all the talk of the BlackBerry CEO it looks like their pull from the device market might be happening. I hope trhey don't plan to discontinue their support for the BlackBerry os 10 software support too. This might darken the cloud of further app development we are hoping for like os 10.3.3 and cross platform bbm video calling
I still hope there will be software support.-img_20160923_074108.png

I'm not saying you shouldn't speculate, but you shouldn't speculate based only on THIS article.

Also this isn't related to an issue with the Classic so it should be in another forum.

    Andy,

There is nothing specific regarding any topic for this thread, as long as it's classic related you can post it. There is everything from bbm request threads to proud classic owner threads.

That article is probably linking to the same Motley Fool article that most of these "BlackBerry is exiting hardware(?)" articles link to (if not each other).

And if the current status of EOL desktop software, 10.3.3 perpetually delayed and developer support having left the building years ago is what BlackBerry considers support, I wonder what would happen when they come out and can BB10.

All of their lies about continuing support and what not was total lies. It's so obvious they're going to kill bb10 completely off.

Their android business ain't doing well either and probably even worse which shows it ain't their phones, it's their image.

Oh stop the gloom and doom merchants!

I used my 9700 for 6 years and only got my classic two or so months ago because the original 9700 battery died. That phone, on OS7, had had no ongoing support for how many years???? And it still works perfectly.

As does my BlackBerry flip phone which I got in 2008.

Simple: if a phone does what you want it to do then continue to use it, if it doesn't then get another one!

Yep, I was just thinking this myself earlier this morning. I have the classic and the flip 8220. I love them both equally. Software works and is perfectly tuned to my liking. Makes and receives calls. Picks up my kids' texts. I'm good.

Well hardware may not be doing well but it is what BlackBerry is known for I doubt that they will shut it down at least for a while without hardware their software company is that we'll known to that many consumers so you know whatever gets your name on a billboard
