I got a Classic on Amazon that I want to use with T-Mobile (but I haven't signed up yet). Do I need to load a carrier-specific OS? Is that even a thing with BB10? Does it get pushed automatically? Thanks.

No, you don't need a specific os. Just put the sim in. That is what I did with my unlocked passport.

Unlocked Classic on T-Mobile gets updates OTA or via BBLink as soon as available from BlackBerry... thankfully. No waiting for updates from TMo.

    What a CLASSIC!

All the more reason to get it from them. Now, will devices from Amazon get wifi calling?

As of now, the TMO Classic does not have WiFi calling. It's supposed to be coming, though.

Based on past precedents, here are the two requirements for WFC on TMO:

    1. You have to have the same model as what TMO is selling. So no matter where you bought your Classic from, as long as it's a -4, it should get WFC.

    2. You have to have the specific OS build(s) that TMO has green lighted for WFC. Anytime you upgrade or downgrade from them, you stand to lose the feature.

Yes, I understand. Since tmo is selling a stock Classic, makes me wonder if factory unlocked devices will get wifi calling when it is released.

If it's a SQC100-4, on T-Mobile, with an OS that allows WFC, then yes.
