I'm debating it, but I heard it's not necessary. Need feedback!

It depends on you. My devices are always naked, no cases, no screen protectors, nothing, and I don't have a single scratch on my screen. While others have cases, protectors, everything and still have a smashed screen. If you want to play it safe even if you're normally good at keeping it from happening, get a protector.

It is the same as with every device: If you absolutely want to make sure your screen stays free of any (micro)scratches, then buy one!

Yup. Every phone or tablet I have ever had that doesn't have a screen protector on it has scratches. Screen protectors are cheap.

It has Gorilla glass as I read somewhere in the specs... it shouldn't get any scratches!
But still protection is always good unless it becomes intrusive!

Gorilla Glass is not scratch proof, it is just a bit more scratch resistant, being specially hardened glass. Common particles still can easily scratch that surface. GG is a nice marketing term on the feature list, however take a look at forums for HTC, Samsung, Sony, Apple or just our own Passport forums, there are lots of reports regarding scratched GG displays.

I haven't taken off the screen protector that has come with the device.

Just use that one. No one notices it is there. And gestures (even though I don't use them) work fine.

It's Gorilla Glass 3. If something rubs up against the screen hard enough to scratch the glass, it will certainly go through the thin plastic cover.

I say skip it, scratched glass is a nice excuse to get a brand, new phone.

I just ordered a screen protector from Amazon and it's ok. I'm also waiting for a tempered glass one myself.

While I like the no protector look. And the plastic usually scratches really bad! I would rather replace a five dollar screen protector than a screen.

I've used all screen protectors and love the feel and protection of the tempered glass. All of my devices now have glass protection except the Classic, for now....

I've never used a screen protector on a Gorilla Glass before and never gotten a scratch. Heck, the 9800 wasn't Gorilla Glass and I didn't get a scratch on that either.

I have Ghost Armor applied to every device on day one when the device is taken out of the box. This week I'll have Ghost Armor representative custom cut a screen protection film. Or I could go to Ghost Armor main office and have the device scanned and have the actual template created. I think I'll be fine with the custom cut. The screen is my concern. The back, side edges, and front below the keys are not a priority.

Put on the Skinomi, ArmorSuit or IQ LiQuiSkin full body clear protectors. Have used all 3 brands many times, on many BB's and other phones. Once applied, the phone looks exactly naked, but the thin clear film protects not just the screen, but the entire phone from scratches and scrapes pretty well. And you can't even tell it's their once applied. The phone is too expensive to just have nothing. Cheap protection that works great.

Dang, so it seems no tempered glass yet?

Always had a zagg shield on mine, and hands down it's protected the screen with 0 issues + you get the lifetime warranty with them. I have the glass on my soon to sell S4, and it's just bloody brilliant.

As of now, can anyone post up the ones they are using currently? Trying to avoid the anti-glare, as I found them to be too dark.

Working in sales for mobile phones, keeping the shield that comes with the phone, bad mistake. It's just there to make sure no scratches happen during shipment. The screen does 0 protection and can end up melting to the screen if the phone gets hot enough (ie long charge). You're better off to get rid of it. Your option end of day.

Also, I've seen the BlackBerry branded shields on Amazon, are these even worth it? Or are they the same as the $5 no-name shields you get??

    Thanks.

Shop Crackberry has some listed. I'll be giving them a try. As much as I love the naked feel I at the minimum get a case and screen protector just in case.

I have kids with dirty fingers and they occasionally drop my phone. With the Classic keyboard they'll be doing less touching of my phone so there's no food stuck in the keys

I'm still using the one that came on it, but it is starting to bubble. The tempered glass sounds interesting. I wonder if it comes in matte (anti-glare).
