All the BlackBerry ads say that the Classic has 50% more battery life than the Bold 9900.

I had a Bold 9700 and the battery lasted regularly 2, sometimes 3 days. Reviews on the Classic say it lasts about one day.

    Thoughts?

    That's about right.

    The 9990 couldn't even last a day.

The q10 could last a day, and I'm expecting the classic to be the same.

The battery volume is higher, but OS10 does consume more juice.

The Bold 9900 had a tiny battery, the Classic will last 50% longer because the battery is twice or more the size of the 9900 battery, not because it's more efficient.

Bold 9700, turn 3G off and would last 2-3 days easy.

The bold 9900 is about 1200 mAh and the Classic is like double that number so I guess it is about 50% more battery.

Didn't own a 9700. By the way, I don't receive quote notifications even though it's activated. Do you know how ot fix this?

Technically, the Classic has more than 50% extra capacity over the 9900 (2515 mAh vs. 1230 mAh). That said, BB10 will burn through that battery power faster, as it's a more complex and higher resource intensive system when compared to BBOS. That extra power and speed makes a difference in battery life.

I don't like the non-removable battery or the keyboard, but it is what it is and no options. I'm a heavy user that changes 4-5 times per day. I don't think it will last all day, so I bought a 2600 mAh iFlash.

Mine should be here Tuesday, so won't know till then.

Not necessary true. I think BB10 manages power more efficient then the old BB. Why else would they choose this platform. They are moving forward, not backward to a more battery friendly platform. My passport can give me 3 days with moderate usages just as long as I don't use any of the battery hogging Android apps.

Say what? My 9900 routinely makes it all day with battery to spare. It's completely dependent on use.

Yeah, my 9900 would last all day and we'll into the night. Rarely did I reach 60 percent battery life.

My 9900 would quickly run down if I used it like you would a modern smartphone - running apps and browsing the internet. Back in the day we mainly used BBOS devices for text based activities. The 9900 was not consistent either. My battery would be down and shut down the phone but would be up and on again after a reboot. The 9900 is a text workhorse but battery life is a problem.

I remember in a long car journey (Belfast to Galway and back) I used my 9900 as GPS while it was bridged to a Playbook for the passenger to browse and as a wifi hotspot for an iPhone, all at the same time and didn't miss a beat. It did get crazy hot though.

I used mine far beyond "just text workhorse"

Has anyone ever downloaded the snapdragon battery optimizer app from the play store? Curious to see if this works. I'll let someone else test pilot!!!

I've never bought into those battery optimizer apps. Anything extra that has to run in the background will negatively impact the battery, and generally forces the OS to do things that are counter intuitive to the way it processes tasks in order to make the user feel like they have more control over battery life.

Use it like a modern smartphone? And....how is that exactly? My use is my use. I still go on the internet, still have apps that chew up the internet (and battery), etc. I would assume my use would be the same going to the classic, but I'd just get the internet a whole lot faster.

My Bold 9000 would last for 2 days, sometimes more. That thing was awesome. The 9900 sucked though...

I was at first going to get the Classic to replace my Z30 for potentially better battery life, but doesn't look like that's going to happen anymore!
