The built-in weather app is missing the slider on Classic as discussed in few other threads, and it's the same case with Passport.
Also there are some news apps missing on Classic and Passport due to resolution.

What apps do you use to get your news and weather?

I use the Weather Network app that works perfect on my Classic for news just CTV and twitter .

I use the CNN, NBC News, CBS News, USA Today apps for news. Between BlackBerry World/Snap/Amazon App Store/Cobalts Google Play, you can get all of them.

I use the native BlackBerry USA Today app for news. As for weather I went to wunderground.com and created a homescreen icon.

I use Inoreader for RSS, do you have any nice feeds to follow?

I loved USA Today's polls and pictures of the day. With Passport, I can't get it anymore.

Also with RSS You don't get notifications for urgent events or important issues.

The feeds I follow are the Toronto Star, CBC, NY Times, BBC and a few others. I don't care too much for breaking news as I can see all of that on my desktop when I am at work.

I'll check out inoreader too.

I also really like News360 as well as NPR.

BeWeather has been my favorite weather app on BlackBerry for a decade. Clean interface, and most importantly, it's ACCURATE. I've had accuracy problems with lots of other weather apps. It's 80* outside and these other apps say its 90*, or 72*. Drives me nuts! The Pro version is well worth the small cost.
