I'm sure there was a small pre order batch made just so it can be sold and ship by the end of this year.

I think a more mature release day was suppose to be in 2015.

You can't just make a small batch of phones... well relatively speaking. They usually make the first batch in line with a break even point.

I'm curious to see how their channels are stocked in the carrier stores, I bet they'll be scarce for the first month.

Maybe they've taken a leaf out of Google's books similar to the Nexus 6 coming in and out of stock to ramp up demand and sales?

I am also tempted getting one, that unreliable virtual shift-key on my Passport is getting more and more annoying. I soooo wish it would have a physical shift-key.

Is the shift really that bad? I'm in split minds whether to get the Passport or not

Every single BB10 device has been "sold out" at some point, surely this is the equivalent of crying wolf.

How can this be anything but good news? No one is saying it will outsell the iPhone.

"Sold out" means there's no more available in their initial allocation. It doesn't mean they're selling well. It's a positive sign but not a firm trend.

Can't we just be happy that they "sold out" a few devices, whether 10, 20 or 100,000. Yeah they sold out but that don't mean anything unless there's numbers, dang.

This just proves that you can't please anyone, if they didn't sell out we'd hear how bad an idea the pre-order was, they sold out and we're hearing oh it means nothing.

This BB community is one of the most negative I know.

Pragmatic is more like the word I'd use. Without sales figures, "not sold out" means just as little as "sold out ".

As I said, every BB10 devices has been reported as "sold out" at some point, was any of them "good news" in terms of sales?

You'd think BB would learn their lesson and stop manufacturing false "sold out" scenarios.

It's all about perspective. Ya, so what if they only had an initial batch of 10,000 for sale. At least they're being cautious this time so as to avoid a write down of inventory. That means they will hopefully be making a profit.

See it as a negative or a positive...it's your choice.

    I like it.

When I placed my initial order - as soon as they were announced there were around 3400 units left. I canceled that one and reordered it last week - 300 remaining at that time.
