I dont know if this is a Classic issue or BB10 as I am coming from a Curve, but this issue has been frustrating me alot. Sometimes the phone does not recognize the number as a contact i have stored. in some cases, I have had to enter the number manually with a 1 in front of it. Am I doing something wrong or does blackberry seriously not understand the difference between 4055551234 and +14055551234?

Interesting. I've got contact numbers listed in many different ways and the contact name always shows. Hopefully, somebody will have some advice for you.

Have you done a forum search for this issue?

The problem is when they call or text me it it doesn't show up as the stored contact name. t only happens sometimes and it is quite frustrating. could it be ATT?

Could be the Classic on AT&T. I have no issues with my Q10 on AT&T.

That happened to me a few days ago. I restarted my phone, and the problem was resolved. So now instead of (713) 867-5309 it says "Jenny".

Mine did the same today, I thought it was just me. I'm w/ Tmobile so it has to be the phone/OS. My wife's Classic isn't paying her custom contacts ringtones/text tones. Mine is though..weird.

Guess another bug they need to fix. Must be why I get missed calls from numbers I don't recognize as I don't remember numbers with these phones being able to dial by choosing a name.

Phone menu
Swipe down setting
Smart dialing
Put +1 into area code

I have the same problem on my Q10. Doesn't always happen though. It happens sometimes in contacts or call log only. My OS Version- Q10SQN100-3/10.2.1.3442

Set up you smart dialing. That should fix it.
